Chess Club

Learn how to play chess and compete against kids at your skill level!

  • K - 5th eligible to participate with 66 spots (first come, first served)

  • $220 tuition for fall semester (12 week session)

  • Meets every Monday (September 9th - December 2nd) from 3:05 - 4:05 pm

  • Culminates in the opportunity to compete in a small tournament

Mad about hoops

Learn how to hula hoop and perform hoop tricks!

  • K - 5th eligible to participate; 25 spots on K - 2nd team & 25 spots on 3rd - 5th team (first come, first served)

  • $250 tuition for fall semester (13 week session)

  • Meets every Monday (September 9th - December 9th) in the multi-purpose room

    • K - 2nd team meets from 2:55 - 3:55pm (register HERE)

    • 3rd - 5th team meets from 4:00 - 5:00pm (register HERE)

  • Culminates in a performance at a Houston Rockets game

shakespeare players

Act in a Shakespeare play!

  • 3rd - 5th eligible to participate with 36 spots total (2 troupes, 18 spots each by application only)

    • Enrollment is currently full for fourth grade girls in both troupes and for fifth grade girls in our Tuesday Troupe. However, we still have spots available for boys at all three grade levels in both troupes and for third grade girls.

  • $500 tuition for fall semester

  • Applications were due by June 14, 2024

  • Meets every week in the multi-purpose room (beginning the second week of school)

    • Tuesday troupe from 2:50 - 5:00pm

    • Thursday troupe from 2:50 - 5:00pm

  • Culminates in an evening performance in Mid-December

robotics Club

Learn how to build Lego robots! There are two opportunities to participate in robotics club at Travis Elementary.

  • Robotics Experience

    • 3rd - 5th eligible to participate

    • Fill out this Google Form ASAP (no deadline stated)

    • Students will be grouped in cohorts of 6-8

    • Wednesdays 3:00-4:30pm for 6 weeks (alternate day may be added with enough interest)

    • $150 registration fee (PTA scholarships available)

  • Robotics Competition Team

    • 4th - 5th eligible to apply

    • Applications are due by September 10, 2024

    • Students will be grouped in teams of 4-6

    • Thursdays 3:00-4:30pm through April 2025, with additional practices & Saturdays as needed)

    • $400 registration fee (PTA scholarships available)

odyssey of the mind

Collaborate with your peers in this creative problem-solving group

  • K - 5th eligible to participate with a maximum of 7 students per team; teams require one or more parent coaches per “long term problem”

  • Fill out an interest form here!

  • Fee is $30 for the entire year (scholarships available)

  • Meetings TBD according to team and coach needs!

  • Culminates in Houston area competition in February 2025

running Club

Run with other Travis Tigers and train for a 5K!

  • 3rd - 5th eligible to participate with 40 spots available

  • Fill out an interest form by Friday, September 13th

  • Beginning September 27th, practices will be Friday mornings from 6:45-7:15am on the Spark Park track

  • Culminates in students running a kids 5K on January 18th, 2025 (in conjunction with the Chevron Houston Marathon weekend)

UIL Academics

Represent our school at district competition in the following categories: art; chess puzzle; creative writing; dictionary skills; impromptu speaking; listening; maps, graphs, and charts; mathematics; modern oratory; music memory; number sense; oral reading; ready writing; social studies; spelling; and storytelling.

  • 2nd - 5th eligible to participate, but not everyone will be guaranteed a spot

  • Fill out an interest form by Thursday, November 8th

  • Meetings will depend on your category

  • Culminates in two competitions: February 8th & March 22nd
